Rescheduled: Gulley Park Master Plan, Prairie Talk and Invasive Pull
Wednesday, May 3, 2023
This event will take place under the pines on the northeast side of the park.
Please join the City of Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas Land Trust for an informative chat and work session!
The evening will kick off with a short (optional) 45 minute invasive pull at the prairie, followed by talks about the history and future of Gulley Park.
Beginning at 6:15, Ted Jack, Park Planner with Fayetteville Parks, Natural Resources, and Cultural Affairs, will discuss the Gulley Park Masterplan and how a prairie concept fits into of the overall park plan. Marson Nance with NWALT will give a background on the historic prairie where Gulley Park currently sits, and based on NWALT’s work, the methods and efforts needed to transform the north portion of the park back into prairie.
Anyone with an interest in learning about historic regional prairies and the desire to help establish a prairie at Gulley Park, or invasive plant removal is welcome to join. Tools will be provided for the work session; please bring a lawn chair and feel free to drop in at any point during the evening!
