Lake Wilson Invasive Pull
Saturday, February 11, 2023
Please join the UA Biological Sciences, Pack Rat Outdoor Center, and the City of Fayetteville as we improve habitat at Lake Wilson!
Help us protect this beautiful park by helping to remove non-native plants from the woodlands surrounding the lake! Volunteers will gain instruction on winter invasive plant identification and removal techniques, then will help to remove bush honeysuckle and Chinese privet, which will allow native plants an opportunity to emerge and reestablish. Water and tools will be provided; volunteers should wear warm protective clothing and sturdy shoes. No experience required!
Thanks to our generous local businesses Basecamp Coffee Co. and Ozark Natural Foods, who are donating coffee and baked treats for the event. And an extra special thanks to our co-hosts, Pack Rat Outdoor Center and the UA Biology Department, who are the initiative and inertia behind this project!
Come have fun with us while making a difference!
Agenda: The morning will start with pastries and coffee, followed by a brief training, and then a short walk to the project site.
RSVPs are appreciated! Please email kjones@fayetteville-ar.gov to RSVP.
Directions: The park is located at 4668 S Lake Wilson Road. From Fayetteville, take Morningside Drive south from 15th Street for approximately two miles. Morningside Drive becomes City Lake Road; turn left on Wilson Hollow Road. Follow the gravel road over the White River, then turn left on Lake Wilson Road. Parking and check-in are on the dam.
