Hazardous Materials are ignitable, reactive, toxic, or corrosive. Materials that have these characteristics cannot be disposed of through normal trash collection. They are unsafe for humans, animals, and the environment.
Never dispose of hazardous items in the trash, down drains and sewers, or into the environment.

Boston Mountain Solid Waste District operates a year-round
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Center in Prairie Grove where residents can drop off many hazardous waste items for free or for a small fee.

Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Trailer During Bulky Waste Cleanup Events
During some of Fayetteville's Bulky Waste Cleanup events, held each year in the spring and fall, there will be a Household Hazardous Waste drop-off trailer at the City's main recycling and trash collection center, located at
1560 S. Happy Hollow Road. The trailer accepts most, but not all, of the materials accepted at the main drop-off site in Prairie Grove. For a list of materials accepted at each site, see below.
