The facility operates under the conditions set forth in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit issued by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. The permit places limitations and monitoring requirements on the operation of the facility.

Biosolids

Biosolids are nutrient-rich organic materials resulting from the wastewater treatment process. Fayetteville has recently started a new operation, located at the Biosolids Management Site, to produce sustainable uses for these treatment residuals. The project combines solar and thermal drying technology to create a Class A fertilizer.
