Fayetteville Downtown Square Gardens

What is this Project?

Night lighting for the inner part of the square was poor. Additionally, electrical infrastructure could be improved with infrastructure that would support events and vendors reducing the need for generators that detract from people’s experiences. This project is focused on improving these two issues.

Why is it important?

The Square is one of the most popular venues in the city and improvements here will be beneficial for all citizens. Night lighting can help greatly enhance the experience that people will have at the square and this project will explore possibilities including enhancements that may be beyond available funding.

What is the current status?

Engineering Elements was selected to design the project. King Electric installed the vendor electrical pedestals.

Improvements to the square's interior lighting will include up-lighting on selected trees that reflect downward and provide indirect lighting. The new LED-based system is designed to allow for color and brightness control that can vary based on seasons or events.

When will it be completed?

This project is complete. Vendor electrical infrastructure was completed in April 2021. Bollard lighting for the interior sidewalks was completed in May 2022. Up-lighting to highlight the gardens and displays was completed in April 2023.
