Rupple Road Extension

What is this Project?

Completion of the last missing segment of Rupple Road, from Tanyard Drive to Weir Road (Ward 4). Includes 4 travel lanes, a center median, sidewalks on the east side, and a 12 foot multi-use trail on the west side.

Why is It Important?

This segment will complete Rupple Road as a continuous route between Highway 62 and Howard Nickell Road. 

What is the Current Status?

The City Council approved a cost share with a developer planning a subdivision adjacent to Rupple Road in this area. See Cost-Share plan here (pdf). 

The northern portion of this project was awarded to Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc.

Construction is well underway. Gravel base installation is nearing completion with curb and gutter to be installed immediately after that is completed.

When Will it be Completed?

Construction of the northern section is scheduled to begin in late May 2020 and will be completed in the first quarter of 2021.

How is it Funded?

Funding for the City’s portion of this project comes from the Bond issue that voters approved in April 2019.
