Walker Park
Created in 1949, Walker Park was the second designated park in Fayetteville, and has been developed into a highly utilized park that meets a variety of recreational needs for the community to enjoy. Included in the park are a splashpad, skateboard park, racquetball / handball courts, and a sand volleyball court. It is also a great location to have a family or social gathering with three available pavilions. There is a 1.2-mile paved walking path around the park’s perimeter and the Frisco Trail, which passes through Walker Park, connects it to the Razorback Regional Greenway.
Walker Park has been the home of youth baseball in Fayetteville since the 1960s when volunteers built the original baseball fields and concession stand. New dugouts and bleacher covers were completed in 2013, and upgrades to the concession / restroom building were completed in 2014.
Master Plan Development
Improvements to facilities and offerings are needed to keep the park vibrant, equitable and enjoyable for its many users. A publicly driven master planning process is underway to help shape the future of this park. The master planning process, began in March 2023, is tailored to gain a detailed understanding of the total communities needs to help create a strong master plan to guide future development. An online survey is currently open on Speak Up Fayetteville for residents to share their feedback.

Walker Park Improvements
Grinders Skate Park
The Grinders Skate Park at Walker Park was completed in September of 2003. The park was designed by Purkis Rose with input from city residents regarding which elements they wanted in the design. Nationally recognized skateboard professional Frank Hirata led several of the design meetings. C-Tec contractors out of Nebraska received the bid for the 18,870 square feet course. The City received several grants to help build the project: $100,000 from Arkansas Parks and Tourism Outdoor Recreation Grant, $5,000 from the Tony Hawk Foundation, and $5,623 in community donations raised through lemonade sales, birthday donations, and raffles.
