Here are links to organizations who offer free classes in learning to speak, read and write English:
Ozark Literacy Council
The Ozark Literacy Council offers four levels of instruction and a wide range of meeting times to accommodate the needs of students. When students enroll into the program, the OLC assesses their language skill level. Using this information, the OLC can make recommendations for classes based on that student’s language level and needs. All classes are free.
Fayetteville Public Schools Adult Education
Three different levels of English classes are available for adults, and students are placed in classes based on their skill level and scheduling needs. All classes are free.
Northwest Technical Institute (Springdale)
In order to serve the needs of the community, the Adult Education Center at NWTI has an open enrollment policy. Interested adults who are 18 years of age or older may enroll on Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Center. ESL and Citizenship students are assessed with the BEST Literacy Test and placed in the appropriate classes as determined by their scores. Classes are available at the Center: 610 E. Emma Ave, Springdale, Arkansas. All classes are free.
