Right-Of-Way Maintenance Program

The Transportation Division maintains the public right-of-way, such as city roads and some areas immediately adjacent to the roads. The Right-of-Way Maintenance Program provides the following services:

  • Brush trimming
  • Litter control
  • Mowing
  • Tree pruning and removal
  • Road clean-up after damaging storms

Maintenance of Vegetation

City residents are required to keep vegetation that is on their property from encroaching into the city right-of-way. These items can obstruct the sight of traffic and may cause accidents. As the right-of-way width varies by street, the Transportation Division can answer any questions concerning the party responsible for maintaining vegetation.

Vegetation Encroaching on Power Lines

All power lines and the majority of street lights are maintained by the utility service provider (electric company) for the area in which the street light and lines are located. For the fastest service, residents should contact the appropriate electric company directly: SWEPCO / AEP at 1-888-216-3523 or Ozarks Electric Cooperative at 1-800-521-6144.
Please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Address (If the light/power lines are not located at a specific address, please provide the closest available street address.)
  • Telephone Number
  • Pole Number(s) for the street light(s) into which the vegetation is growing, and/or
  • Pole number(s) attached to the power lines into which the vegetation is growing
