What is this project?
The project, in partnership with Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, will include the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of E. Mission Boulevard (Highway 45) and Old Wire Road. The project will include:
- Widening of the traffic lanes on Mission and Old Wire at the intersection.
- Minor realignment of the intersection to accommodate the traffic signal.
- 5-foot-wide sidewalk along portions of the project.
- Signalized pedestrian crossings.
Why is it important?
This signal installation will improve the use of Old Wire Road at this location. Currently during higher traffic times, it is difficult for drivers to make a left turn from Old Wire Road onto Mission. The signal will allow these protected movements.
What is the current status?
Construction is COMPLETE as of March 2017.
On January 13, 2016, AHTD received bids and the intersection project was awarded to Crossland Heavy Construction Company in the amount of $1,224,208.70.
How was this project funded?
This project is funded by a combination of funds from the Federal Surface Transportation Program, Surface Transportation Program Attributable Program and the City’s Transportation Bond Program.
