The Old Wire Improvement Project is a multi-phase project on the east side of the “Mayor’s Box,” which will create an integrated network of east/west and north/south roadways around the perimeter of the City, connected with miles of trails and sidewalks. The Old Wire project includes an overhaul of the intersection at Mission Boulevard and Old Wire, and improvements will also be made from Mission Boulevard, past Gulley Park to Old Missouri Road. When completed, the Old Wire project will improve traffic flow, allow for protected movements and provide safer pedestrian and bicycle trails along the roadway.
The project is being implemented in several phases. The first three phases were funded through the 2006 Transportation Bond. The fourth phase, the Old Wire Road Cycle Track, was funded through the 2019 bond.
