Criminal Investigation Division

The Fayetteville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division consists of a sergeant and seven investigators. Detectives assigned to this unit investigate crimes committed against persons and property such as:
  • Aggravated assault / battery
  • Burglary
  • Financial crimes
  • Forgery
  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Robbery
  • Thefts
Detectives solve crimes via the process of questioning victims, witnesses and suspects, collecting physical evidence at the scene of a crime, and by tracing stolen property or vehicles associated with a crime.

Crime Scene Technician

The position of Crime Scene Technician was established in March of 2001, and the crime scene investigators work under the supervision and in conjunction with detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division. The Crime Scene investigators are primarily responsible for the thorough documentation of crime scenes and the identification, processing and collection of physical evidence.

Task Force Officers

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division are assigned to several federal and state task forces. These task force officers are highly trained and responsible for joint investigations of financial and computer crimes, terrorism and drugs trafficking.
