- What are the different types of hearings?

The first type is an arraignment: your Constitutional right, reading of the charges and entering a plea. The second type of hearing is a trial: the examination of evidence and the decisions of the issues of law by a judge to determine guilt or innocence. Warning: If you fail to appear in Court as you have promised on any misdemeanor, you may be arrested and punished by one (1) year in jail and / or a $1,000 fine, regardless of the disposition of the original charge.
- What must I do when I come to the court as specified by my citation, letter, cash bail or bond receipt?

Look for your name and the time your case will be heard. If you are unable to find your name, go to the clerk's window.
- How do I identify myself at the clerk's window?

Do not use a nickname or alias, use the same spelling as listed on your paperwork. If the name on the paperwork is incorrect, please advise the Court.
- What must I bring to Court?

You must bring any relevant paperwork having to do with your case, such as a copy of your citation and your appearance letter. You must also bring your jail release papers, bond receipt, cash bail receipts as well as your documents of proof of compliance of judicial order and sentence.
Do not forget to bring money for fines and fees. - Who can use the Small Claims Court?

Any person, corporation with three or less stockholders, partnership or other organization can file or be filed against in Small Claims Court. To find out if a corporation has three or more stockholders, contact the corporation. For the agent of service of a corporation, contact the Arkansas Secretary of State's Office, Corporation Division.
