Road Closures for NWA Pride Parade and Festival on Saturday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Northwest Arkansas Pride Parade and Festival takes place this Saturday, June 15 on and around W. Dickson Street. Event producers are expecting more than 10,000 people to be in attendance. Several roads will be closed or have restricted vehicular access during the parade and festival at various times during the day.
The festival is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The parade begins at 12 p.m. and is expected to last approximately two hours. Sections of East Avenue, Highland Avenue, School Avenue, and W. Dickson Street will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. for event and parade staging.
The parade flows west, toward campus on W. Dickson Street from Highland Avenue to University Avenue. Dickson Street will not be accessible from College Avenue prior to and during the parade. Additionally, most side streets connected to W. Dickson Street along the route will be blocked with a physical barricade, only pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to enter and exit. Officials recommend that drivers do not travel on these streets because they are narrow and cannot accommodate turn-around traffic. The following areas will be closed beginning from 5 a.m. through 8 p.m.
- W. Dickson Street (between West Avenue and Campbell Avenue
- S. School Avenue (between Dickson Street and the entrance to the School Avenue Parking Lot, south of Kingfish Bar)
- Lot 55 Parking Lot (off West Avenue and Watson Street)
Officials recommend event attendees consider walking, biking, or ride-sharing to and from the event due to high number of expected participants.
