Public Art Installation to Temporarily Close School Avenue

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The installation of public art on School Avenue will temporarily close portions of the road between Dickson and Mountain Streets beginning Tuesday, May 1, through Friday, May 4. Detour routes will be marked.

Temporary closures along the road will impact on-street parking along School Avenue and access to the Spring Street Parking Deck. The parking deck will be accessible from the Spring Street entrance at all times.

This art installation, Topo Map for School Avenue by artist Stacy Levy, will be on display throughout Artosphere Festival 2018. The City of Fayetteville and Walton Arts Center commissioned the artwork with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Its form is a life-scale topographic map of the terrain between Dickson and Mountain Streets and a visual reminder of the issues of water in Fayetteville’s hilly landscape. The festival spotlights artists and performers from around the world who are inspired by nature, and it provides a creative framework for the community to discuss issues of sustainability and environmental awareness.

Learn more about Artosphere and the Topo Map installation on the Artopshere website. The Walton Arts Center will release more information about public events regarding this art installation in the coming weeks. On behalf of the City of Fayetteville, we would like to express our appreciation for your cooperation and understanding as this work is installed.
