City Announces Garden Walking Tour of
Sustainable Landscape Competition Winners
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Urban Forestry Advisory Board (UFAB) announces winners of the Sixth Annual Sustainable Landscape Competition. The City thanks all of the applicants and judges for participating in this year’s competition. The sites were divided into two categories: commercial and residential. The 2017 winners are:
- Commercial – Specialized Real Estate Group and Modus Studio
(nominated by Arsaga’s Church & Center)
- Residential – Deb King and Jeanne Sievert
A team of judges used a rubric system to observe the applicant’s gardens. Applicants were given extra points if their garden focused on food production, management, and cultivation. Other areas of scoring included sustainable use of water, use of native species, responsible pest/invasive species control, on-site composting, biodiversity, maintenance, design, function, and overall health.
The winning gardens will be showcased on a walking tour on Saturday, July 15. The timeline of the morning will be as follows:
- 9 a.m. – tour Deb King and Jeanne Sievert garden located at 228 E. Dickson Street, winner of the residential category. Parking is available on neighborhood streets or at the Washington County Courthouse.
- 10 a.m. – tour Specialized Real Estate Group and Modus Studios campus at Arsaga’s, located at 200 W. Church Street, winners of the commercial category.
