City Updates Application Process for Special Event Permits
and Noise Variance Requests
 
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City’s processes for Special Event Permits and Noise Variance Requests have recently been updated. Applicants will now be able to submit applications through the City’s website using Laserfiche, an intuitive online forms system. The system also streamlines City staff’s comment and approval routing.
 
Fayetteville City Council passed Ordinance 5881 in June 2016; this ordinance amended City Code 72.58(M). Events that request the closure of a City street or parking lot for more than eight hours now require permit applicants to complete a Notice of Proposed Closure Form and provide Written Notification to all property owners/occupants and businesses along and within 300-feet of the proposed closure. The City’s GIS (Geographic Information Systems) staff has created a map to help applicants create a notification list and form. City staff expects the new process to affect approximately eight events, such as Bikes Blues and BBQ, Joe Martin Stage Race, Block Street Block Party, Slide the City, and others.
 
Permit applications proposing City street or parking lot closures for more than eight hours must be submitted 45 days in advance. Permit applications for events proposing no closures or for closures less than eight hours must be submitted 21 days in advance. Noise Variance Requests (NVR) for construction projects are now processed through the City’s Development Services office and uses an updated online form.
