New Sidewalk Construction near Dickson Street to Close Section of Gregg Avenue

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will begin construction of a new sidewalk along the east side of N. Gregg Avenue between Lafayette Street and Dickson Street on Monday, March 20. The project is estimated to take two weeks to complete and will improve sidewalk connections and pedestrian safety.

Construction work will require closing a section of Gregg Avenue between Lafayette Street and Dickson Street during work hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Detour routes will be marked. Residents will have access as needed. Customers of businesses located at the northwest corner of Dickson and Gregg can access parking from Dickson Street. Access to the public parking lot (northeast corner of Gregg and Lafayette) will available as needed. The roadway will be open to regular traffic at night and on weekends.

Flaggers will be present during work hours, flagging traffic when needed, to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the work area. Please use extreme caution when in the work area and watch for personnel and equipment.

This improvement project will build 265-feet of a new five-foot wide concrete sidewalk along the east side of Gregg Avenue – connecting an existing sidewalk (located just north of Dickson Street) to a public parking lot on the northeast corner of Gregg and Lafayette.
