Fayetteville Proposes Ordinance for Small Cell Technologies

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville has been working for over six months to help bring the next generation of wireless communications to citizens in our community. Mayor Lioneld Jordan has an aggressive agenda for broadband deployment as an economic driver and for creating digital access for all. City officials understand the need to establish an even playing field for all telecommunications providers, as well as the importance of maintaining our community's safety standards and aesthetic values – especially in our historic neighborhoods and downtown. City officials have created an ordinance to allow “Small Cell Facilities” permits, so that providers can proceed to build out the coming “5G” mobile network – which promises to be much faster with stronger and higher-capacity connection.

Citizens and businesses are encouraged to learn more about the coming 5G technologies and how communities can be proactive in developing policies for this important technology.  Please read more about the topic here.
