What is this project?

This project is the addition of a 235-space parking deck in the City's Entertainment District on the northwest corner of W. Spring Street and N. School Street. The 236 vehicle parking spaces use the same Entertainment District "Pay-By-Space" parking rates; six payment kiosks are located throughout the deck. Free bicycle parking is available with 12 racks accommodating 24 bicycles. In addition to the four-level parking facility, the project includes replacement and expansion of the Walton Arts Center administrative offices and a backstage expansion.

Why is it important?

The parking deck relieved parking shortfalls and increased demand in the Entertainment District.

What is the current status?

The project was completed in October 2015. A ribbon cutting was held on Friday, Oct. 23, and the deck opened for parking immediately afterward.

How was this project funded?

The parking deck was funded by a combination of bond issuance, parking revenues, Walton Arts Center contributions and general funding. Baldwin and Shell served as the Construction Manager and bid the project construction in October 2014 for a total Guaranteed Maximum Price of $10,522,106.
